Spanish Baked Apples (Manzanas asadas)

  • 4 apples
  • 1 cup (30g) chopped almonds (optional)
  • 4 tablespoon brown sugar or honey
  • cinnamon powder
  • 4 tablespoon butter
  • 200ml water


- Peel and remove the cores from the apples leaving them whole

- Place the apples in a baking dish a fill the hollows with the chopped almonds if using. Add a tsp of brown sugar to each apple and lightly sprinkle with the cinnamon powder topping with a tablespoon of butter

- Pour the water over the apples and place in a preheated oven (200 C degrees) until the apples are cooked (length of time depends on size of apples) usually about 25 mins

- Can be served hot or cold
