Lebanese Awamat (Spoon Doughnuts) Recipe

Ingredients

24 servings

  • 2 md Potatoes,
  • 1/2 pk Yeast cake,
  • 2 c Flour,
  • Lukewarm Water,
  • SYRUP:
  • 1 c Water,
  • 1 ea Lemon juiced,
  • 1 c Sugar,
  • Orange-blossom water.

Preparation

Peel potatoes, cube and boil.
Remove from water and mash.

Add flour, yeast and water.
Knead, leaving mixture soft.
Set until dough rises, about 1 hour.

Pick up small portions of dough with spoon and drop in skillet of hot oil until browned. Remove and dip in cold syrup.

Syrup:

combine water, sugar, lemon juice and optional orange-blossom water.

Bring to a boil, allow to cool, chill in refrigerator.
