Lebanese Date walnut delights

Ingredients

- 250 gr butter
- 1 cup coarsely chopped dates
- 1 cup walnuts, broken into large pieces
- 1 cup raw sugar
- 2 full cups self-raising flour
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- icing sugar
Preparation
Melt the butter and let cool.
In a large bowl, mix togheter the dates, walnuts, raw sugar, flour and cinnamon.
Add the melted butter and knead the mixture into a dough with your hands.
Take large walnut-sized balls of the dough and mould them into elongated shapes by squeezing gently in the palm of your hand.
Cook on an ungreased baking tray in a preheated moderate oven at 180C until lightly brown, for 20-30 minutes.
When cool, remove from the tray and liberally sift icing sugar over the balls
