Mini Sausage Rolls

 Mini Sausage Rolls

Ingredients

4 servings

  • 1 packet of frozen puff pastry
  • 1 packet of frozen beef/chicken sausages
  • 1 egg
  • Small bowl of water

Preparation

Let Puff pastry to thaw on a plate, may take about an hour ( depending on temperature of room.) Also take out frozen sausages and leave till almost thawed too.

Onced thawed, put sausages into a small saucepan of water and leave to simmer for 3 minutes ( this increases it size and makes it even tastier. Drain and leave on plate to cool.

Flour your working top and roll out pastry till about 1-2 cm in thickness. Cut off edges to make a rectangular shape the same length as the sausages and enough to wrap it up and close.

Meanwhile warm oven to 250-300. Mid- way heat, next to bottom shelf.

Brush the pastry edges with water, take sausage and place on pastry, roll over and seal edge leaving top ends revealed. Continue to do this with the rest of the sausages.

Beat egg and brush with eggs, cut each sausage into three pieces.

Place on floured oven tray. Takes about 10 minutes to rise and become beautifully goldened. The aroma will just fill the room. Take out leave to cool on cooling rack.
